You should know the basic stiches: chain stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, double crochet. All the other stitches used in the pattern are explained. You should also be able to read crochet patterns and understand the concept of gauge. Each body is unique so check the measures of the readymade shorts and make adjustments if needed.
This pattern is written in English in standard American terms and includes Many photos of the process.
Pattern includes instructions for the following sizes XS, S, M, L, XL.
Materials>
Yarn>
Yarn weight> 1/superfine/fingering or 2/fine weight.
In meters> 600(680,800,920,1040) meters
or in yards> 660(750,880,1010,1140) yds
I have used for example Drops Baby Alpaca Silk (light blue shorts, super fine), Drops Alpaca (beige shorts, fine weight), Katia Cotton Fair (brown shorts, fine weight).
Other yarn suggestions > Mondial Cotton Soft Bio, Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit, Paintbox Yarns Cotton 4 ply, Malabrigo Sock. Check the gauge and use any yarn!
* Crochet hook size for the ribbing around the waist with Hdc sl tbl pattern: 3mm/D/3 - 4mm/F/5. Hook size for the lower part with sc sts
3.5mm/E/4 – 4.5mm/7. Check the gauge and use any hook!
* Elastic band (optional), width 2cm/0.7”- 3cm/1.3”, length 70cm-90cm (measure your low waist for the exact length). You can also skip the elastic and only add the tie around the waist as done with brown shorts or other way around or add both as I have done with the light blue shorts. I recommend adding on of the two otherwise you might have difficulties keeping them on because the ribbing will stretch in use.
Gauge:
Waist> Ribbing made with Hdc sl tbl pattern, with hook 3mm-4mm> 13 Hdc sl tbl and 11 rows measures 2”x 2”/ 5cmx5cm. Use any size hook to
obtain the gauge. Make sure the ribbing ends up stretchy and avoid using too thick yarn.
The lower part with sc pattern and hook 3.5mm/E/4 – 4.5mm/7> 19sc and 23 rows measures 10cmx10cm / 4”x 4”.
